Home > Chaptor 06 > Checking the Virtual Serial Com Port

Go to the device manager (via the control panel).

Check under the Ports (COM & LPT).

In this example, the USB Serial Port is COM3.

Sometimes you may not be able to find it. This is the result of a driver problem. Instead, you will find, in this example on the right picture, your USB device listed with an exclamation mark.

Right click on the device listed to update driver.

You should already have downloaded the FDTI driver and place it somewhere in your computer storage.

Browse to the folder where you have stored all the relevant driver files.

Click Next to continue.

Close the windows once the driver is properly installed.

Now you should be able to see the USB Serial Port under the Device Manager.
